Q Technical Services (UK) Ltd as a Mosquito installer of Telford in Shropshire is pleased to announce the following news:

Attempts by some narrow minded publicity seeking public servants to try to take away all individuals rights to peace, quiet and a harmonious existence have failed spectacularly today (9th September 2008)!

Baroness Sarah Ludford and her European colleagues Benoit Hamon and Jan Marinus Wiersma have been attempting to convince the EU Parliament to ban the use of the benign device called The Mosquito.

Today Si Morris, commercial director of CSS Ltd. the inventors of the Mosquito can officially confirm that 90.2% of MEP’s did NOT agree with a motion to ban the device.

Mr. Morris said today “Whilst CSS Ltd. agree that the only way to solve the problem of anti-social behaviour is for the government to institute serious long term social programs and to increase police visibility, we also stand by our position that in the short to medium term, The Mosquito gives a small measure of ability to a small number of people to PASSIVELY and BENIGNLY stop their lives and property being destroyed by a minority of teenagers who act in an anti-social manner”.

In response to this supportive news, CSS Ltd. are planning to launch two new versions of the hugely successful Mosquito device within the next several weeks.

These are:

Mosquito Multi-age. Over the last year there have been significant numbers of enquiries from the public sector across the world asking for a Mosquito that will annoy older people, such as those who sleep rough in public places. This new Mosquito will have two settings. One for teenagers and one for adults.

Mosquito Classic. This version of Mosquito plays selections of royalty free classical and chill-out music.

Mr. Morris went on to say that “these new models incorporate new software to ensure, as far as possible, that the devices cannot be misused and thus ensure – as per our usage guidelines – that the devices are only used when there is a problem with badly behaving teens”.

This EU position supports that of the Home Office issued earlier this year.

Mosquito

The Following has been taken DIRECTLY from the Parliament Website

The device is a commercially available device and is not subject to endorsement by the Home Office.

As we understand it the Health and Safety Executive has considered the literature available on the Mosquito device in order to determine whether there is any risk to health, either to hearing or other effects, which might be relevant under section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The Health and Safety Executive concluded that the literature available on very high frequency/ultrasound units of this type did not identify any significant and relevant health effects that may harm children/youths exposed to vhf/ultrasound in the long-term.

The Health and Safety Executive also considered that in terms of noise exposure in the context of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, and therefore possible implications for persons working in proximity to these units, at the stated output level (for the Mosquitosubjective effects if the duration of exposure is prolonged, there would appear to be little likelihood of persons exposed to vhf/ultrasound from this device suffering long-term ill health. unit) of an A-weighted sound pressure level of 76 dB, for the likely daily duration of exposure, there was not likely to be any risk of an exposed person suffering hearing damage. They concluded that based on the information and evidence available, and while there is the possibility of some short-term

Fire alarm systems and their associated components, such as automated release doors have to be inspected, tested and certified every six months since the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.

Now with the introduction of the new British Standards applicable to automatically released fire doors . BS 7273-4:2007 these doors now need to be activated on a weekly basis to ensure they are operating correctly and this should form part of the current weekly alarm testing regime.

All doors must be observed to have operated correctly and this information should be recorded.

Business owners and property managers should be aware that this change should be implemented at their premises immediately and the necessary testing and inspection schedules increased to comply with the guidance given in the new British Standard.

The changes in the inspection schedules was brought about by the number of reported failures of fire doors not closing during emergency and fire situations increasing in recent years. The enforcing authorities and advisory bodies have taken the view that increasing the rate of inspections would better protect employees and other relevant persons from the risk presented. In short, employers and property managers are now duty bound to ensure those provisions for the detection of fire and for its compartmentalisation within their premises are subject to a more rigorous inspection and maintenance regime, which should be enacted on and also certified every six months by a competent company.

To ensure that your systems are maintain to BS 5839 and 7273 please do not hesitate to contact us where we will be able to advise you and provide you with a service maintenance contract to your sites requirements. .
