Q Technical Services are fully BAFE accredited and are actively seeking an experienced Fire & Safety Division Engineer, who is looking to progress their career into management or looking for a new and exciting challenge

Roles & Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to initially start with flexibility as you grow this part of our business being able to quote and undertake quoted jobs whilst we progress your role to solely management.

  •  Previous Experience in the Fire and Safety Sector
  •  Responsible for compiling quotes for all Fire & Safety disciplines in the range of small works to £100K
  •  Be flexible and willing to work in a varied role

Management Role:

  • Be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative to secure all types of local business from end users, FM companies Contractors and Consultants
  • Supporting all aspects of bid delivery, strategic bid development and contract mobilisation
  • Fully document and prepare proposals to clients and follow through to secure orders and prepare handover to delivery team
  • Ensuring contracts are performing to BAFE standards
  • Maintain BAFE accreditation and ensure continued compliance
  • Attend all BAFE audit visits both external and in house as required
  • Appoint and build your own team of engineers
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing clients through excellent service

On site:

  • Routine inspection and certification of various fire alarm systems (i.e. addressable, conventional, wired, wireless etc…)
  • Routine inspection and certification of emergency lighting
  • Fire Extinguishers certification, service and maintenance
  • Fault finding to fire alarm systems
  • Installation and commissioning fire alarm systems
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Willingness to travel/ work away as required

Experience, Knowledge & skills

  • Be fully conversant with all the regulations and requirements of BS5839 pt1 to design a project and prepare quotations, validate supplier quotes on a technical level and a design level.
  • Excellent time management; with experience in managing projects with time-critical deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to persuade, influence and challenge in a constructive manner and identify appropriate solutions
  • A customer focus, delivering exceptional customer service
  • Previous experience in an estimating small to medium size contracts
  • Strong commercial acumen and focus.
  • BS 5839- Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings

Certificates:

  • As documented Experience, Knowledge and Skills above
  • Full UK clean Driving License
  • Proof of Eligibility to work in the UK
  • DBS Checks
